Choosing a course/subject.

As an adult considering higher education level study, you will discover there are lots of of different courses on offer at local colleges and universities. From child care to website design, from business management to engineering - there’s something for everyone!

Whatever you choose always check that the course will give you what you want and what employers are looking for.

Most adults deciding to do a higher level course are looking to use it as a route to employment so research what other students did after the course. You can do this by looking at a provider's websites or follow some of the links below to find out more.

Whatever course you do you will be developing useful employment skills so it isn't always necessary to do a specific vocational course, although many adults do choose HE as a way to further their existing career.  If you are changing career through study it is worth finding out whether a course offers placements as research shows students who have completed placements do tend to get better graduate jobs.
